How does PageHabit work?
PageHabit offers both monthly and quarterly book subscription plans. Once you sign up for your preferred genre and plan, you will receive a box every month for the monthly plans or every three months for the quarterly plans. When you first sign up, you are simply placing a reservation on a box. You will NOT be billed until your box is ready to ship. Our monthly boxes ship out around the 20th-25th of each month. After your first box, you will be billed every month or every three months until you unsubscribe.
What is the difference between a Monthly PageHabit box and a Quarterly box?
Monthly subscription plans feature one (1) brand new release, annotated by the author, a beautiful bookmark and a couple bookish goods to top it off. These ship out every month and each time the author is a surprise! Each box is $29.99 plus shipping.
Quarterly subscription plans also feature one (1) brand new release, annotated by the author, but the featured author also handpicks two additional books to round out the box and thoughtfully selects the bookish goods to accompany his/her brand new release. These boxes ship out every three months based on the calendar year: January, April, July and October. We will announce the featured author and the new release included ahead of time, but the rest of the box will be a tightly guarded secret! Each box is $49.99 plus shipping.
We solemnly swear to never repeat a book in the monthly or quarterly box.
Can I subscribe to more than one PageHabit box?
100% YES! We’ll actually love you a little bit more if you do, but shhh don’t tell the other members that. We always say the more books the merrier! To subscribe to another genre, simply visit the genre page you would like to add and hit “Join the Club”. You will be billed for each box separately.
How are PageHabit books selected?
We at PageHabit love to read, specifically, we love to read great books. Mostly, we love to share our great reads with you. The process for selection is pretty straight forward. We ask our publisher friends, from the indies to the big five, to send us their catalogs of upcoming releases. Working with a group of writers, readers and editors, we gather ‘round to pore over the titles, slowly but surely narrowing it down to what we think are the most interesting books publishing in the month - from bestselling authors to fresh new voices. Next, we get our (lucky) hands on ARCs (advanced reader copies) to make sure the books live up to our standards. What kind of book lives up to our standards? The best. Typically books that include a combination of lush writing, thrilling plot points, and generally possess an un-put-downable nature.
What comes inside a PageHabit box?
Every PageHabit box includes the following:
- A brand new release, annotated by the author
- A written letter from the author
- A beautifully designed bookmark
- Delightful bookish goods
- A donation to support children’s literacy around the world
Quarterly PageHabit boxes are curated by the featured author and include all of the above, as well as:
- Two additional books handpicked by the featured author
- Thoughtful bookish goods selected by the author
Can’t I just buy these books elsewhere?
In short, yes and no. Sure, you can purchase these new release titles from a multitude of big box retailers, but you’ll be missing out on three very important things.
FIRST, part of the reading experience is diving deeper, going beyond the words on a page to relate these stories to our real lives. That is why each of our boxes comes complete with exclusive author insight, including a written letter and author annotations! Every new release is peppered with exclusive author annotations placed throughout the book to enhance the reading experience. You will not be able to purchase these anywhere else.
SECOND, with a membership you also get access to our online community of over 21,000 bookworms from around the world! Get instant book recommendations, feedback, and thoughts on all things bookish.
THIRD, our members also get access to exclusive author content, including live chats with authors -- ask them anything! -- and exclusive playlists, deleted chapters, interviews and more!
How does PageHabit give back?
PageHabit is founded on the simple belief that reading is for everyone. With the purchase of every PageHabit box, we make a donation to support children’s literacy around the world. Each month, we partner with a different organization with the same mission, to help get books into the hands of children everywhere.
Reading is important. Not just as a means of recreation, but a real measure of success in life. Illiteracy is a global problem, stretching from the United States to the United Kingdom, from Uganda to Laos and everywhere in between. The inability to read and write quickly leads to big problems later in life. Illiterate people are more likely to be poor, lack an education, and miss out on opportunities to fully participate in society and the workforce. Sadly, their choices in life are far too limited. We want to change that; one box, one book and one child at a time.
In addition, for every PageHabit unboxing photo tagged with #mypagehabit across social media, we will make another donation to support this cause. Because reading should be fun, exciting, engaging, and above all, for everyone.
For more information on where this month’s donation will go, please check out OUR MISSION.
BILLING & SHIPPING
Will I be billed when I subscribe?
No — you won't be charged for a package until it is ready to ship. So reserve your box right away — you can cancel at anytime.
Are sales tax and shipping fees included?
Residents of California and Idaho pay sales tax, which shows up on the confirmation page of the subscription process. This is because we are headquartered in Los Angeles and have a distribution center in Idaho.
If you are located in the continental United States or U.S. territories, we charge a small shipping fee. Monthly boxes cost $4.99 to ship and quarterly boxes cost $7.99 to ship because of all the extra goods.
What about international shipping?
International book subscriptions—yes, we offer them!—require an additional fee, at the following rates.
Monthly Plans: Canada +$14.99; Australia, Mexico and Europe +$19.99*
Quarterly Plans: Canada +$19.99; Australia, Mexico and Europe +$29.99*
*NOTE: There may also be local taxes and tariffs on receipt of package. PageHabit is not responsible for covering those costs. PageHabit does not make a profit on shipping. These rates directly reflect our costs.

WORKING WITH US
How can I suggest an author?
You can submit someone you feel would be a great curator by sending us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I get my amazing bookish products into a PageHabit box?
If you manufacture or sell great products and want to be featured in a PageHabit Box, please email us at email@example.com
Do you have an affiliate program or can I review one of your boxes for my audience?
We love working with bookfluencers and are happy to provide sample boxes for review. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to apply.
What do I need to include in my submission?
Your submission should consist of a query letter and a completed manuscript (no partial manuscripts, please!). Alongside a compelling synopsis of your book, your query letter should include your name and email address, a brief description of your writing background, and links to any relevant online presence. Submit your manuscript as a Word or PDF document. Include your name and genre in the subject line of your email.
How should I format my manuscript?
Please use the following formatting guidelines:
- • Standard font (Times New Roman or Helvetica, for example) in 12-point type
- • Double spaced
- • 1” margins
- • Include a title page
- • Number your pages (not including the title page) and include a header with your name and book title
- • Begin each chapter on a new page and include chapter numbers
- • Submit as a Word or PDF document
How long should my book be?
Word count differs by genre. Use the numbers below as a guideline (we will consider manuscripts outside of these ranges as long as they don’t differ wildly).
- • Young Adult: 50,000-80,000
- • Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, and Mystery: 80,000-100,000
- • Fantasy: 100,000-150,000
Do I need an agent to submit my manuscript?
No! We are happy to consider authors who are not represented by an agent.
Do I need to have my novel professionally edited before I submit?
While you don’t need to pay for professional editing before submitting your manuscript, it should be polished and free of errors. No rough drafts, please!
When will I hear back?
We know how much time you spent perfecting your manuscript, so we do our best to respond to all queries within 30-60 days.
Does it cost money to have my book published with PageHabit?
There’s absolutely no cost involved. PageHabit does not require a reading fee or any other type of charge to consider your submission.
Can I submit work that’s already been published?
No. We are only interested in unpublished manuscripts. If you have already self-published your book or released it online, it’s no longer eligible for consideration.
Can I submit a manuscript that doesn’t fit the genres listed?
Yes, but keep in mind that we will give preference to submissions in our genres of focus.
Can I submit multiple manuscripts?
You may submit up to three manuscripts at a time in separate submission emails. If you have more than three manuscripts you would like us to consider, please wait for a response before submitting the additional books.
FLASH FICTION CONTEST
Can I submit to the flash fiction contest if I’m not a subscriber?
Yes. There is no subscription purchase necessary to enter your flash fiction.
If I am a subscriber, will my entry get preference?
Nope! We’re simply looking for the best stories, no matter where they come from.
How do you choose the best submission?
First and foremost, we’re looking for a complete story. Despite the word count restriction, there should be an identifiable beginning, middle, and end. Other ways to make your submission stand out include snappy dialogue, a unique writing style or point of view, and diverse characters. These are just suggestions, of course, not hard and fast rules. There’s no formula for great writing!
Can I submit a story that’s been published elsewhere?
No. We are only accepting unpublished stories. If your story exists publically in print or online (including social media), it is no longer eligible.
